Fuel Belt Helium Review: What Makes it The Ultimate Running Hydration Belt
“We Compared the Fuel Belt Helium vs the Classic Fuel Belt and Have Chosen a Winner!”
Up until a couple year’s ago, I hated wearing a running hydration belt during my runs. Not a good thing when you train for longer distances. The running water belts that I used held only one water bottle that ALWAYS bounced off my tailbone. My solution was to carry the water bottle in the front, instead of on my back, but that wasn’t very comfortable either. This took me to:
Option 2 – rely on my running partners to share their water (not a popular option either). Next:
Option 3 – Make sure that I ran routes that had water fountains along the way.
Then one day I went for a run with a friend who also happens to be the manager of the local running store, marathon clinic run leader and a wealth of knowledge. He let me try out his 4 bottle fuel belt hydration system that he was wearing. I was instantly converted. Immediately after I returned home, I went online and ordered the Classic 4 bottle Fuel Belt which has never disappointed. Until the next generation…
…The Fuel Belt Helium
Don’t get me wrong, I still love my Classic Fuel Belt, but what FuelBelt did, was take the classic fuel belt and improved upon it’s already great design.
The great design being a three inch wide elastic control-stretch waistband, that won’t buckle or curl, and also has a large velcro closure in the front that is easy to manage, even while running.
The Fuel Belt Helium has a two bottle or four bottle option. The four “dishwasher safe” bottles are evenly placed around the belt that makes the belt very comfortable and well balanced. I would definitely recommend the four bottle belt. Then if you are only going to have a two bottle run, it’s easy to leave the other two bottles at home.
Each bottle holds 8 ounces of fluid which gives you a generous 32 ounces in total. And, between the four bottles, it’s easy to mix and match between water and sports drinks.
What Else Does the Fuel Belt Helium Have?
The big difference from the Classic Fuel Belt vs. the Fuel Belt Helium it that the Fuelbelt Helium has been constructed with breathable thermafoam on the belt that will wick away moisture and keep you cool and dry during your run. This extra padding on the inside keeps the belt off your body which allows for air movement throughout.
The Fuel Belt Helium is also designed with lots of reflective trim so that you will be seen more easily while running at night or darker weather conditions.
Another feature that we love is the handy little neoprene zipper pocket on the back. This small pocket works well for for keys, money, identification or gel packs.
An additional larger Fuel Belt Neoprene Pocket can be purchased. I haven’t personally used this additional pocket, but reviewers say that it is large enough for a cell phone. However one reviewer mentioned that the bigger pocket did bounce when carrying heavier items and suggested for those that want to carry their cellphone, they should buy a belt clip that fastens the cell phone horizontally.
Why is Fuel Belt Helium the #1 running water belt in the world?
Well, when you put all the features together, it’s just the best hydration belt for runners available. But, if I had to choose from one feature, it would have to be COMFORT. In my opinion, I barely even know that I am wearing it. The elastic belt sits nicely and snuggly on my hips and doesn’t bounce, chafe or rub.
